The Mzuzah Africa Convergence On Sustainability

Yesterday, our volunteers attended the convergence on sustainability at Ashesi University to participate in a dialogue to map the emerging trends of sustainable innovative solutions and the type of leadership required to deal with issues related to sustainable development. The Mzuzah Africa Convergence on Sustainability has emerged with the understanding that only Sustainable Thinking Leaders are capable of providing the most ap propriate solutions to the present problems of African societies. Mzuzah provides a platform for debate, analysis and collaboration between current and future leaders interested in discussing sustainable solutions to the regions challenges with innovative lens. Only innovation and creativity will ensure workable, stable and realistic solutions to Africa's contemporary issues. This initiative forms part of our One Year Volunteer Program to provide the platform for young people to engage in strategy and policy design for future innovations.

One Year Volunteer Program

Next year, we would be providing the opportunity to twenty (20) young people to participate in our endeavors. As part of our transition, we have designed a comprehensive volunteer program for young people who would like to make an impact into their societies. This program is expected to provide the platform for young people to gain first hand experience in organizational management, networking and policy design for high impact initiatives to solve the problems of the society.

Our CEO Abdul Samed Zurak Set To Attend The One Young World Summit Under The Johnson & Johnson Scholarship Program

Since 2013, One Young World (OYW), a not-for-profit organization that gathers together the brightest young leaders from around the world, to develop young leaders and strengthen their leadership capacity. To date, 45 young Johnson & Johnson employees (aged 18-30) from across the globe have participated in the annual OYW Summit, providing them with the unique opportunity to learn from inspirational world leaders and to debate, formulate and share innovative solutions for some of the world’s most pressing health issues. This year, 35 global young leaders from Johnson & Johnson will attend the 2017 Summit in Bogotá, Colombia in October. Project Restructuring With The Breast Cancer & Cervical Cancer Team

Leaders of the breast cancer team and the cervical cancer to discuss project restructuring to maximize impact. The meeting which took place at Impact Hub Accra was joined by Emily Sheldon - Head of the Health Innovation of Impact Hub Accra. Zurak Cancer Foundation is incubating with the Merck Entrepreneurial Development Space (MEDSpace) to the hub to scale up its endeavors and maximize impact.

World Cancer Day On Osu, Oxford Street

On World Cancer Day, Zurak Cancer Foundation visited the Osu, Oxford Street to have an interaction with the public about their perception about cancer. The event which is dubbed "My Cancer Story" seeks to look out for the various stories Ghanaians share about the disease in the country. Also, there are several misconception covering the disease and the event was so fascinating. We were able to draw up some crazy stories from individuals which is very essential to put it out there to tell the world the story about cancer in Ghana.

The "Cervicus Hackathon" With Achievers Ghana

Zurak Cancer Foundation in collaboration with Achievers Ghana developed this initiative to educate young girls in slum on cervical cancer and human papillomavirus (HPV). The event which occurred on Saturday, 28th January, 2017 met with enthusiastic audience of young girls with the slums of Nima.  The event began with a cervical cancer education program with Dr. Caryn Agyeman Prempeh to educate the young girls on cervical cancer. During the second session students were grouped into their various teams to pitch their ideas on how to propagate cervical cancer awareness in their communities. Moreover, the activities were categorized into four different activities and they are; drama, poetry, interview and presentation. Finally, the poetry team emerged winners of the hackathon. They were awarded a certificate signed by Emily Sheldon (Director of Health Innovation, Impact Hub Accra).

Mr. Abdul-Samed Zurak, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Zurak Foundation has been named the “UNSUNG HERO” for the month of January, 2017. He received an overwhelming nomination from the general public when nominations were open. Out of the pool of people nominated, the Unsung Heroes Initiative team, after properly scrutinizing the list of nominees finally agreed he best deserved the accolade for the “UNSUNG HERO OF THE MONTH JANUARY 2017” “THE UNSUNG HERO OF THE MONTH” is a sub-initiative put together by the Unsung Heroes Initiative, aimed at recognising and celebrating young individuals on a monthly basis. After nominating an individual, the Unsung Heroes Initiative team will visit him/her in order to write about their story. The Chairman/Founder of Zurak Cancer Foundation Abdul Samed Zurak has been nominated for Health Personality at the Africa Youth Awards.Over 170 young Africans and organisations from 35 African countries have been announced as Finalists for the 2016 Africa Youth Awards. The shortlisted nominees, who were announced on the 7th December, have been progressed to the final stages and are currently being voted for by the public ahead of the announcement of winners on 1st January, 2017. Voting which can be done on www.africayouthawards.org/vote is expected to end on 28th December. Our Chairman/Founder @ The British Council’s Active Citizens Leadership Programme

The Chairman/ Founder of Zurak Cancer Foundation Abdul Samed Zurak was selected to take part in the second cohort of the British Council's Active Citizens Leadership Programme. Out the 15 fellows selected across Ghana, the purpose of the programme is to support young, emerging change-makers and social entrepreneurs to create sustainable social, environmental and cultural impact. The first engagement of the as a selected Active Citizen, is a 4-day training programme organized by the British Council with a UK-based trainer, Karl Belizaire.

Zurak Cancer Foundation nominated for the Most Influential Student Foundation category of the 2016 edition of Ghana Tertiary Awards. The over 18,000 students who picked nominations forms for this year's Ghana Tertiary Awards 2016 has finally been vetted, short listed and submitted to the organizers last Monday. Voting Starts on this Friday 19th of August 2016 (FULL NOMINEES RELEASE DATE) to a universal short code (1762) to all Networks.The Organizers are set to provide the voting procedure and all attached information on Friday during the full nominees announcement ceremony at the Airport West Hotel, 7pm with lot to eat and drink.
