2017 Johnson & Johnson One Young World Scholars

It's a great honor to have our CEO, Abdul Samed Zurak to be part of the eight (8) aspiring young leaders from across the globe selected by  One Young World  as the 2017  Johnson & Johnson  One Young World Scholars to attend the 2017 OYW Summit in Bogota, Columbia in October. This will provide a unique opportunity to engage with global thought leaders to debate, formulate and share innovative solutions  for some of the world's most pressing issues with peers and J&J delegates. This selection comes out of over 2,200 applications received from more than 160 countries for the Johnson & Johnson One Young World Scholarship Program which was open to young leaders on the front lines of delivering care, including health care professionals, family care givers, individual leaders and others working or involved in the health/care giving arena. Zurak Cancer Foundation is a policy oriented and service delivery non-governmental organization providing solutions to the cancer prevalence in the country through awareness, education and free screening programs in hard to reach communities and slums. Zurak Cancer Foundation was established on 27 th April 2014 by the current Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdul Samed Zurak. In Africa, the most prevalent types of cancer are related to infectious agents such as the human papillomavirus and the hepatitis virus. Zurak Cancer Foundation bases its core values on the most prevalent types of cancer such as breast cancer, cervical cancer, prostate cancer and liver cancer. Since 2013, One Young World (OYW), a not-for-profit organization that gathers together the brightest young leaders from around the world, to develop young leaders and strengthen their leadership capacity. To date, 45 young Johnson & Johnson employees (aged 18-30) from across the globe have participated in the annual OYW Summit, providing them with the unique opportunity to learn from inspirational world leaders and to debate, formulate and share innovative solutions for some of the world’s most pressing health issues. This year, 35 global young leaders from Johnson & Johnson will attend the 2017 Summit in Bogotá, Colombia in October. The Scholarships are open to those aged 18-30 years who are working for, or involved with underserved communities in the health/care giving arena across the spectrum of care (from family care givers to health care professionals) such as NGOs, social enterprises, community based organisations and individual leaders.
