On World Cancer Day, our Tamale Team visited the Tamale Children’s Home located at Yohani to donate assorted items and raise awareness on Childhood Cancer.

The World Cancer Day is a day set aside by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) to support the goals and objectives of the World Cancer Declaration, which was written in the year 2008. It is an international day marked on 4th of February every year to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment. The day was set aside by the international community to increase awareness and education on cancer with the slogan "We can. I can". On World Cancer Day, we interacted with students at various Islamic Schools within the Nima - Kanda community to discuss Hepatitis virus and the best way to prevent the spread of the disease.

The Zurak Cancer Foundation Tamale team visited the  Lamashegu Market within the Tamale Metropolis to educate market women on cervical cancer. 

Zurak Cancer Foundation honored its members during the Merck eHealth Meet Up End of Year Party. The Merck eHealth Meet Up is a monthly series inviting players in the health innovation industry to discuss solutions to health challenges in Ghana. Zurak Cancer Foundation is incubating under the Merck Entrepreneurial Development Space (MEDspace) and the organization played a vital role during the monthly series. As part of the organization's motive to encourage and motivate its team, the management developed a strategy to honor most deserving members of the organization who have contributed their time and efforts to take the organization to the next level.

Our cervical cancer team visited the Agbobloshie Market to conduct a survey for our upcoming market invasion. This will enable to the team to develop a strategy for our market invasion initiative. The market invasion initiative is a cervical cancer awareness program to provide cervical cancer education and screening to market women. This initiative is expected to encourage the market women to pay attention to their health especially the human papillomavirus; the causative virus for cervical cancer. According to Wikipedia, the local economy of Agbogbloshie is based on an onion market serving immigrants to Accra from the greater Tamale Region (Dagbani) in the north. Unemployed immigrants turned to scrap metal collection, including auto scrap, to supplement incomes. The population of Agbogbloshie consists of economic migrants from northern and rural parts of Ghana, where living standards are growing worse, causing people to move to urban settings, such as Agbogbloshie. We would like to express our gratitude to each and every one who made it for our interview session yesterday. We are overwhelmed by the turnout and professionalism exhibited by the candidates. We have had the opportunity to listen to exceptional individuals who are motivated to create change in their society. It is part of our dream to build a strong and committed volunteer hub to work together in providing solutions to cancer prevalence in Ghana. We are so glad for an exciting and wonderful month of great impact for our Breast Cancer Awareness Program. We are highly impressed with the progressions and our drive for high impact solutions to cancer prevalence in Ghana. We would like to express our profound gratitude to  SO Social Multimedia ,  Sweden Ghana Medical Centre-SGMC , Ghana Technology University College ,  Ghana Institute of Journalism  a nd Clottie Muronda for the great support for our Breast Cancer Awareness Programs. We made our impact generations based on our social media reach for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, WhatsApp and impact generated from the Breast Cancer Awareness Program in collaboration with So Social Multimedia. Unfortunately, we couldn’t push forward our sub initiative and signature event (Market Invasion) for Breast Cancer due to delays from our partners but all the same we are excited about the impact we keep making into the lives of Ghanaians. Next year, we would be providing the opportunity to twenty (20) young people to participate in our endeavors. As part of our transition, we have designed a comprehensive volunteer program for young people who would like to make an impact into their societies. This program is expected to provide the platform for young people to gain first hand experience in organizational management, networking and policy design for high impact initiatives to solve the problems of the society.

Zurak Cancer Foundation in collaboration with So Social Multimedia and Ghana Technology University College extended its Breast Cancer Awareness Program at university to educate students on Breast Cancer prevention. The event featured a two (2) sessions with first session featuring an education on Breast Cancer and self breast examination. The next session featured a documentary from Anas Armeyaw Anas on Breast Cancer prevalence in Africa and a movie from our partners in Nigeria dubbed "Living Funeral" a real life story of a Breast Cancer patient as she shares her story on the difficulties she goes through everyday as a Breast Cancer patient. The event was support by Sweden Ghana Medical Center who provided us with Oncologist to take the audience through a technical aspect of the disease.
